Matching plant species to the exact microclimate of the planter's location is critical. FRP's thermal neutrality protects root systems, but foliar exposure dictates survivability.

Full Sun (6+ hours)

Root Architecture & Planter Depth

The success of any containerized landscape depends entirely on matching the biological root depth of the species to the vertical dimension of the planter.

Shallow Profiles (30-40cm)

Ideal for low bowls and window boxes. Suitable for succulents, groundcovers, seasonal annuals, and shallow-rooting herbs which require minimal substrate depth.

Medium Profiles (50-70cm)

Standard depth for architectural troughs and cubes. Engineered to comfortably house ornamental grasses, structural shrubs, and medium-sized perennials.

Deep Profiles (80cm+)

Reserved for tall cylinders and monumental urns. Mandatory for small to medium trees (like Palms or Ficus species) that develop aggressive taproots.

Drainage Strata & LECA

Regardless of plant species, water stagnation is fatal. A mandatory 10-15% base layer of LECA (Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate) must be installed above the drainage ports, covered by a geotextile membrane to prevent soil siltation.

Lightweight Soil Matrix

Do not fill premium FRP planters with dense field soil. Utilize an engineered blend of coco peat, perlite, vermicompost, and red soil. This ensures rapid root aeration, optimal moisture retention, and drastically reduces the dead-load on elevated slabs.
